After some years teaching Metabolic Modelling, I realised that a big limitation in our field – for both students, teachers and researchers – is the lack of standard methods to share different models, tools, and methods.

Actually, by getting deeper into the topic, I realised the problem is People don’t even share the same definitions! What is a model? This question will render you several distinct answers, even if you ask two microbiome scientists working with data.

That’s why I have joined the Holomicrobiome Innovation Institute. We share very similar visions: to push the field to become more impactful. To move from descriptive science into a predictive and applied microbiome field!

I will be working on pushing the boundaries between modelling frameworks and to understand how can we make our science real! Stay tuned for more exciting news coming up.
